      Ceramic testing

Ceramic tableware is related to our daily life, and its glaze contains excessive heavy metal elements such as lead and cadmium. Excessive lead and cadmium can enter the body with food and accumulate in the body, which can harm human health, especially affecting children's intellectual development. To ensure the physical health of consumers, countries have enacted strict laws to limit the release of lead and cadmium from ceramic tableware. Therefore, the release indicators of lead and cadmium in products have become important criteria for foreign buyers to choose products.

NormalTCI provides professional inspection services, which can test, analyze, and issue formal reports for your ceramic tableware according to national standards, so that you can determine whether the product meets safety requirements and detect problems early, avoiding financial and reputational losses caused by substandard goods.

Ceramic tableware has become the preferred choice for many families due to its delicate and smooth texture and bright colors. However, in the production process of ceramic tableware, in order to ensure bright colors, heavy metal salts such as lead, mercury, radium, cadmium, etc. are usually added to the glaze. These substances may migrate to food and be absorbed by the human body during the use of ceramics, thereby causing toxicity to the human body. The European Commission's Directive 84/500/EEC on Ceramic Products in Contact with Food, issued in 1984, and its Supplementary Directive 2005/31/EC on Performance Standards and Declaration of Conformity for Ceramic Products in Contact with Food, issued in 2005, provide strict regulations on this matter.

      Scope of application:

Ceramic products that have already come into contact with food or are intended for future use in contact with food.

The definition of ceramic products in the directive is: Ceramic products refer to products made from a mixture of five grade materials that typically contain high levels of clay and silicate components. Small amounts of organic substances may also be added to ceramic products. These ceramic products are first shaped and then permanently set by fire refining. These ceramic products can be polished, glazed, or decorated in other ways.
