Philippines PS Certification ICC Certification

On January 29, 2018, in Makati District, Manila, the Philippine government signed Executive Order No. 18-03. The name of this regulation is "Mandatory Philippine Standard for Household and Similar Electrical Appliances".

The law requires that all products involved must meet the requirements of the corresponding Philippine national standards and obtain a PS certification mark license or ICC certificate before distribution and sale.

 This regulation involves 12 product standards, totaling 11 categories of products, namely:

Electric irons, centrifugal dehydrators, washing machines, grills, toasters and similar portable cooking utensils, kitchen appliances, liquid heating appliances, refrigeration equipment, ice cream machines and ice makers, microwave ovens (including combination microwave ovens), electric heat pumps, air conditioners and dehumidifiers, electric fans, audio, video and similar electronic devices.

It is not difficult to find that many of the above products are already on the list of mandatory certification products in the Philippines. In this regulation, what has changed is the standard number and version of the product.

In response to the above situation, whether it is currently exporting the above-mentioned products to the Philippines or domestic manufacturers that will explore the Philippine market, they need to take action as soon as possible according to the market needs and legal requirements of the Philippines, strive to obtain or update corresponding certificates and licenses as soon as possible, in order to reduce and minimize the adverse effects caused by mandatory certification laws and regulations.

The decree issued this time is aimed at household appliances. In addition, mandatory certification products in the Philippines include lamps and related products, wiring appliances, wires and cables, machinery/building materials, chemicals, and other consumer goods. The product certification in the Philippines is usually called PS certification, which requires factory audit and sample testing. After completing the certification, one can obtain the PS certification mark license issued by the Philippine Bureau of Standards (BPS) and can affix the PS certification mark on the product.
